Summary:
Kobato is here in the human world to find scarred hearts and heal them, in order to make her wish come true. But first, she must pass a test.
Kobato is a sweetheart. An innocent girl who wants to help out everyone and make them happy. Her first task is to is to see if she has a normal human sense. She must show her evaluator, proper behavior in the springtime park they are in. Kobato takes a newspaper out of the trash can and uses it as a blanket while she sleeps on the bench.
First Test: Fail
While wandering about town, Kobato is given her second test. This time she must throw away the trash that a lady dropped. When she finds the dump, she notices the crows behind her – and then open the bag calling out for the crows to help themselves.
Second Test: Fail
While resting after being pursuited by the crows, two men come up to her asking her out for tea. She agrees without hestitation. Her evaluator, Ioryogi gets annoyed and blasts an attack at the two men and scolds her for getting off-track with the test. Kobato protests saying that they are treating her before hurrying up to them to see if they were alright. Of course instead they are pissed off thinking she was the one who made them fall to the ground. He grabs her so that he can punch her, but she is saved by a guy who punches them and scares them off. He leaves while she tries to say thank you – but he brushes her off saying to stop making a big deal about it. She gets upset protesting that she wasn’t trying to make it a big deal.
The day is coming to an end, and Kobato walks by a place where the cherry blossom festival or something is going on. Ioryogi says that they should take a look after smelling the delicious air. While walking through, a ball rolls up to her. The kids asks her to pass the ball back to them – Kobato throws it, but completely misses. Breaking some dishes from one of the stalls.
While apologizing, the manager tells her that there is nothing to worry about split milk and mumbles to himself that he is short handed. Kobato instantly tells him that she will help in return. The manager agrees.
Kobato is hang in there, doing well without a problem – until one of the customers asks her if he could watch her make his nabe. Kobato on the other hand is very worried and hesitates, uncertain whether she should or not, since she has no experience. Ioryogi decides to make this part of the test. Kobato quickly starts to put in random things, not only scaring the customer who is worried about his meal, but the manager as well.

When she finishes, it looks absolutely disgusting. A customer, noticing that Kobato isn’t confident about it, says that they shouldn’t waste it and takes a small bite – only to say it was actually really good! The other customers try it as well and enjoy it too. One of the asks the boss to add her recipe to the menu.
Walking back to the park, Ioryogi says that she gets no points for her knowledge of nabe, but since it turned out pretty good, he’ll give her 40 points.
Not too far ahead of her, she hears a baby wailing. She goes up to see what’s wrong where it’s an elderly lady taking care of baby while his mother is at work. She tries to cheer him up, but it fails. The elderly woman tells her that his mother is always with him and would sing to him. She tells Kobato that even whens she tries to, it doesn’t work. Kobato offers if she could try singing to him, and so the elderly woman agrees.

As Kobato sings a crowd gathers to hear her, and the baby stops crying and smiles. The crowd applause asking her to sing again, and before she knows it she is dragged off.
Later back in the park Ioryogi eats some of the snacks that are gifts for singing. Kobato asks how the test was and so Ioryogi tells her how the first half was a total mess, and the song did was nice – but she still fails.
The elderly lady from earlier goes up to thank her again she didn’t get her chance to. She is happy that Kobato was able to calm her grandson and praises Kobato for her singing. She wishes her goodnight and departs. Suddenly a light comes down from the sky just as Ioryogi announces that she has successfully passed since what the granny said was worth a hundred points. The light shines and there before her is the bottle, the one that she will fill up the bottle with scarred hearts so that she can make her wish come true.

First Impression:
*inner fangirl goes nuts* OMMMGGG!!!! *squea* I am SO happy that it finally aired! I’ve been waiting for this, like FOREVER!!!!
This episode was super cute, and instantly pleased the Kobato manga fans by being able to hear what Kobato would sound like when she is singing! I can’t express how much I adore Kobato’s voice, I find it just perfect for her character! The Opening and Ending were both well done to my liking, and the choices of songs were great! I can’t wait for the next episode where I can start smiling and laughing away from Kobato’s cuteness and mistakes. I’ll definitely be blogging this one, so there will be more to come!
